How WikiSchools creates each school profile
The school facts come from an official annual dataset. WikiSchools cleans, compares and explains those facts using fixed calculation rules. This page documents those rules and their limits.

Who is responsible
WikiSchools is operated by Vixoria Technologies in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The WikiSchools data team maintains the import rules, calculations and page templates. Questions and corrections go to vijit.panwar44@gmail.com.
Why these pages exist
Annual school returns contain useful facts, but the raw rows are difficult to compare. WikiSchools turns them into readable profiles so parents, researchers and school staff can investigate a shortlist. We do not label a school “best”, sell a higher position or treat one ratio as a verdict on education quality.
Source and reporting period
The underlying records are the 2023–24 returns from the UDISE+ Basic Details of Schools source record, distributed through the India Data Portal and attributed to the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India. The exact resource ID is 457fddf1-982f-4c85-855d-5095578accc1. WikiSchools retrieved this extract on . The Government of India also publishes UDISE+ reports and documentation.
Schools submit UDISE+ information annually. A figure on WikiSchools describes that reporting period, not necessarily the school today. The source provider does not endorse WikiSchools or its calculations.
How the automated process works
- Import the official school record without changing the reported totals.
- Standardise names and suppress administrative codes that are not useful addresses.
- Calculate ratios and district comparisons with deterministic formulas.
- Withhold empty profiles and obviously suspect map coordinates.
- Render the same reviewed profile template for every qualifying school.
The profiles are generated automatically because the site covers thousands of schools. The rules are written and tested by the WikiSchools data team; no generative AI is used to invent school facts, reviews or claims.
What each calculation means

Which schools receive a public page
Current coverage is limited to selected cities. Within those areas, a school profile must have an operational record, at least 250 reported students, at least one teacher, a usable administrative location and enough data to produce at least three meaningful facts or comparisons. Records that fail these checks stay out of the public index instead of becoming thin pages.
What we check and what we cannot verify
Automated checks reject impossible denominators, broken page paths and known location problems. We also test samples across cities after changes. WikiSchools does not telephone every school or independently verify every annual return. Fees, admissions, results, safety, facilities and current contact details are not inferred when the source does not support them.
Corrections and updates
The data is replaced when a verified newer UDISE+ school-level release is ready. Between releases, we can correct how WikiSchools displays a record and suppress information that is demonstrably wrong. Use the correction form and include the school’s UDISE code where possible.
